Team India visit Nepal dressing room, Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli hand out medals in a heartwarming gesture

The Indian cricket team came up with a heartwarming gesture for Nepal players after their Asia Cup 2023 game.

Nepal cricket fans had plenty to cheer about during and after Monday’s Asia Cup match against India.

Even though a stronger Indian team beat them, there were quite a few positives for the minnows, with Aasif Sheikh making a solid half-century and the team putting together a fighting total of 230.

Coming off their thrashing at the hands of Pakistan, Nepal were off to a good start but could not accelerate in the manner they would have liked to in the middle overs and towards the end.

The associate nation’s impressive performance on the field did not go unnoticed, and they won the respect of their opposition.

The Indian team, after the game, went to the Nepalese dressing room and interacted with the players and, in a heartwarming gesture, gave away medals.

Nepal coach Monty Desai addressed the Indian team and thanked them for the gesture. Thereafter, the first medal was presented by Hardik Pandya to Sompal Kami for his 48-ball 56.

Kohli gave away the second one to Aasif Sheikh. Incidentally, the Nepal head coach revealed that Kohli is also Sheikh’s idol. Finally, India head coach Rahul Dravid presented a medal to Dipendra Singh Airee.

Meanwhile, India qualified for the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup after beating Nepal by 10 wickets under the Duckworth/Lewis method in a rain-interrupted match.

Chasing a revised target of 145 in 23 overs, captain Rohit Sharma (74 not out) and Shubman Gill (67 not out) struck unbeaten half-centuries to take India home with 17 balls to spare.

India reached 147 for no loss in 20.1 overs.
