Panaji, Dec 21 President Ram Nath Kovind was on a two-day visit to Goa from December 19 to 20, 2020.
On the first day of his visit, he paid tributes to the freedom fighters who had sacrificed their lives during Goa Liberation Movement at Azad Maidan in the city and later in the evening inaugurated year-long celebrations organised by the state government to commemorate 60th year of state's liberation from Portuguese rule.
On the second day, the President visited renowned historic Mahalsa Narayani Devalaya in Mardol, about 15 km away from the capital city of Panaji, where he not only prayed before the Goddess but also blessed a couple who were getting married there.
"It is not often that the venue of a wedding in a temple coincides with the itinerary of the President at the same time and day. But this is what happened when President Kovind visited the Mahalasa Temple, Goa today. He blessed the newly weds, making it all the more memorable," the Rashtrapati Bhavan tweeted.
The President also posed for photograph with the newly-married couple. He was accompanied by the First Lady Savita Kovind and Goa Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. Visit to the temple was the last stop before his departure for New Delhi from Dabolim Airport in the evening.
