IPL 2020:'Think twice before hitting the air,' Virat Kohli warns KL Rahul after being reminded of two dropped catches
KL Rahul reminded Virat Kohli of those two catches he dropped in the previous match involving Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Still, the RCB skipper had his comeback prepared. The last time Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore confronted each other, an unusual sight unfolded. RCB captain Virat Kohli is considered one of the best and safest fielders globally, allowing two simple catches slip. Kohli fell his counterpart KL Rahul double in two overs -- both being relatively easy chances -- allowing the KXIP captain to get off and score a century.
The first time Kohli dropped Rahul was in the 17th over the innings in the deep square leg using the batsman batting on 83 and again in the 18th over when Rahul had moved to 89. The KXIP skipper went on to take 132 as 97 runs defeated RCB in their second game of the year. But things have changed drastically.
While KXIP has won only one match since RCB has only gotten better, they currently are on 10 points and placed third on the table, whilst KXIP are fighting at the base. That's perhaps why during an Instagram live conversation, Rahul jokingly said he is hoping for KXIP to turn their luck around because they conquer RCB within their previous encounter. And across the way, Rahul did not skip an opportunity to remind Kohli of the lost catches from the game."That has been the general conversation - to win every game. It helps understanding that the only real game we have won is against RCB so we will come in with a little bit of confidence. It'll be fun. I have always had fun playing with or against RCB. I'm just hoping that a few of your fielders can drop a couple more grabs," Rahul told Kohli.
In response, Kohli cautioned Rahul that even though he awakened before, he is not likely to change his fielding position, warning the KXIP captain he should think twice about hitting the ball in the air this time around."As last time, I am moving into the same position from the way. So you might want to think twice before hitting it from the air," Kohli said.
