Isha Sharma candidly shares her portrayal of Pashminna, offering insights into the character's unique qualities and the captivating journey that lies ahead for the audience.
1. Share something about your character Pashminna.
Pashminna is a tour guide by profession and is a happy-go-lucky girl who spreads joy wherever she goes. Even though she's tough, she also has a kind of innocence that comes from growing up in a small town. A true romantic at heart, Pashminna firmly believes in the power of love, drawing inspiration from classic romantic Bollywood films. Her life is influenced by the cinematic magic of these classics. Pashminna holds her mother in high esteem, cherishing their bond. She is a devout follower of Lord Shiva, finding solace and guidance in her spiritual beliefs. Pashminna's character is a mix of strength, innocence, romance, and respect, making her a captivating character in the story ‘Pashminna Mohobbat Dhaage Ke’.
2. How did you feel when reading the script and learning about Pashmina's character?
I found an instant connection with the character of Pashminna, as she reflects a lot of who I am. Much like her, I'm a desi girl at heart who stands strong in the face of adversity. My family is at the core of my values, and I take immense joy in supporting and caring for them. When I first read the script, I could truly imagine portraying such a character. This character truly resonates with my essence, and I'm excited to bring her to life on screen.
3. Can you tell us more about Pashmina's relationship with her mom and how it affects her choices in the show?
Pashminna shares an incredibly close bond with her mother; they're best friends. She plays a significant role in assisting her mother with their houseboat business. Despite their friendship, Pashmina deeply respects her mother's choices and understands her boundaries. Her love for her mother is so pure that she's prepared to give up her own romantic desires to honour her mother's wishes. Preeti supports Pashminna in all her choices, but there's one particular warning she's given her: "Don't let yourself fall in love with a tourist." It'll be intriguing for the audience to see how this relationship unfolds once Pashminna indeed falls in love with Raghav, a tourist.
4. What are Pashmina’s views about love and romance?
Pashmina's take on romance is straightforward; she wants to live a love story as intense and passionate as those crafted by classic old romantic movies. She envisions a love that's grand, dramatic, and filled with deep emotions. Her heart is set on experiencing the kind of love that sweeps you off your feet and makes every moment feel like a scene from a Bollywood film. Pashmina's desire for a love story that mirrors the magic of Yash Chopra's creations adds an intriguing dimension to her character, and viewers can expect a journey filled with romance and drama in her quest for such love.
5. How does the beautiful Kashmir Valley improve the show, and what's unique about this place that viewers will love?
Pashminna, being my first foray into television, shooting in such a breathtaking location feels like a dream come true. It adds an extra layer of motivation to deliver my scenes to the best of my abilities. The stunning backdrop of Kashmir enhances the realism of our storytelling, aligning perfectly with the essence of our show. We aim to bring our viewers an authentic and immersive experience, and the picturesque setting contributes significantly to achieving that goal.
6. Can you give us some exciting anecdotes/incidents while shooting "Pashminna - Dhaage Mohobbat Ke"?
This is my debut show, and every aspect of this experience feels entirely fresh and exhilarating. I must credit Sony SAB and Alchemy Films as it’s an intricate process of weaving together various facets of the story, maintaining continuity, and discovering such an exceptional script. It sometimes feels like I'm living in a dream. It's a journey that's pushing my limits and allowing me to explore uncharted territories, and I'm loving every moment of it.
7. What did you enjoy most about working on this project as an actor, and how will it help you grow in your career?
Becoming an actor was never really on my radar, and I haven't had formal training in acting. However, by a stroke of luck, I landed this project, and I'm fortunate to be learning every day under the guidance of my director. I keenly observe my co-actors, like Gauri Ma’am and Nishant, during their performances and strive to enhance my skills daily. This journey feels entirely novel to me since I didn't have anyone to teach me before. Yet, with this newfound opportunity, I'm eager to learn, and I aspire to become a proficient actor in the future.
8. Pashmina is a dreamer. She’s talkative and is very optimistic. How similar are you to her, and what were the challenges playing the character?
This character mirrors so much of my own personality. Like Pashminna, I'm a fun loving person who loves to dream. However, I also pride myself on being polite and composed, much like her. Another commonality between Pashminna and me is the belief in Lord Shiva. I'm putting in tremendous effort to bring my character in 'Pashminna' to life, to bring joy and satisfaction to the audience through my performance.
