1. Ganesh Chaturthi is a widely celebrated festival in India. How has your experience as an artist or celebrity influenced how you celebrate this festival and connect with your audience during this time?

Ganesh Chaturthi holds a special place in my heart, and I eagerly anticipate it all year to welcome Bappa into my home and community. The atmosphere during these ten days exudes an energetic and positive vibe that I deeply appreciate. Like any dedicated devotee, I enjoy witnessing the magnificent idols in pandals and the vibrant decorations. It can be challenging for public figures to visit these pandals, as our fans are always present, expressing their love in various ways - taking photos, engaging in conversations, expressing their appreciation for our work, and more. I'm truly grateful for their support, as they are the ones who elevate us to celebrity status. Despite the security concerns that sometimes limit our ability to explore pandals freely, I remain undaunted. I make a deliberate effort to visit prominent pandals with my family, friends, and colleagues. Recently, I had the privilege of attending the Maha Aarti in my hometown, Indore, alongside my dear friends. It was an unforgettable experience. The Ganesh idol was so mesmerising that its beauty completely captivated me, and the overall experience felt truly divine. We joined in the aarti alongside our fans, and the love and affection they showered upon us only deepened my admiration for Indore.

2. Tell us about your connection with Lord Ganesha. How long have you been celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi, and your first experience bringing Bappa home?

Ganpati Bappa holds a unique place in my heart. Through all the ups and downs of my life, he's been my go-to, like an elder brother you confide in, knowing he'll reassure you, saying, "Don't worry, I'm here for you." Bappa has been a cherished guest in our ancestral home for as long as I can remember, and those days bring unparalleled joy to our family when he graces our home for one and a half days. The preparations for this special occasion used to kick off two weeks in advance, with my father and sisters overseeing the creative aspects. I remember how we'd all rise early, dressed in traditional attire, to perform the prati sthapna and the morning aarti. Our guests would start arriving in the morning, and in keeping with tradition, we would host around 100-150 relatives and friends. With the loving help of my sisters and mother, we would painstakingly prepare traditional delicacies like modak, ladoo, malpuha, and kheer for Bappa and our esteemed guests.

3. Artists often have busy schedules. How do you manage your work commitments with enthusiasm and preparations for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations?

Ganpati Bappa fills our home with an abundance of joy and positivity. My unbridled excitement reaches its peak as I gaze upon the divine Lord Ganesha idol. My daughter isn't here to celebrate this auspicious festival with me this year. Nonetheless, we meticulously strategised and prepared for it in the previous ten years. She would take charge of the decorations and preparations each year, allowing me to focus on my commitments, especially while shooting for Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai. But this year, I had to handle everything on my own. It was a demanding process, but I eventually managed. I deeply miss her presence.

4. Ganpati festivals are known for their elaborate decorations and rituals. Can you describe some of your favourite traditions or decorations that you incorporate into your celebrations?

With our deep love for our beloved Ganpati Bappa in our hearts, we adorn our home with captivating and aesthetically pleasing themes to welcome and delight the Lord. We incorporate fascinating eco-friendly handmade craft items, abundant flowers, and other personal touches to enhance the festival's atmosphere. Flowers hold a special place in my heart as I firmly believe they bring smiles to everyone's faces. I strongly advocate for eco-friendly idols crafted from mud and Shadu-mati, and our decorations avoid materials that harm the natural habitat. I take a day off from work every year to devoutly celebrate this auspicious occasion with Ganesh Ji. One of our essential traditions includes offering durva, modak, jaggery, coconut, red flowers, red sandalwood, and camphor during the Puja. My home is graced by family and friends seeking Bappa's darshan and serving him brings us unique joy.

5. Ganesh Chaturthi is a time for reflection and gratitude. What message or sentiment would you like to convey to your viewers and fans during this festive season?

What I find most heartwarming about this festival is the overwhelming sense of warmth and togetherness it brings. The aspects I cherish the most are the peace, joy, and smiles on people's faces, as well as the positive energy in the air. I credit all of this to Bappa's blessings as I pray for the good health and happiness of my loved ones. I earnestly encourage everyone to avoid using firecrackers and plastic bottles during the visarjan. Please celebrate this festival in an environmentally friendly manner and take care of our Mother Nature.
