Ameesha Patel said that Hrithik Roshan was very disturbed after his films started flopping one after the other and that he was written off by the same audience that made him an overnight superstar.
Actor Ameesha Patel, who made her debut with the blockbuster film Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai and then followed it up with another big hit, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, said that Hrithik Roshan confided in her when his films weren’t working and hers were.
She said that after their big debut, Hrithik became ‘the most powerful man in the country’ after the prime minister, but the same audience that had put him on that pedestal brought him down.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Ameesha said that she is still in touch with Hrithik and that his father, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, sent her a sweet message congratulating her on the success of Gadar 2. The film has made more than Rs 506 crore in India so far and is on track to beat Pathaan’s all-time record (for a Hindi movie) of Rs 543 crore.
She said, “Immediately after Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, he was working with the best directors… Sooraj Barjatya, Subhash Ghai, Yash Raj Films, even a film with me, and nothing worked.
He and I used to discuss this on set… On one Friday, Hrithik Roshan becomes the most powerful man after the PM in this country, and the next Friday, people are not accepting his films.
