Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan planted saplings along with Radio Jockeys (RJs) of Akashvani and FM radio channels of Bhopal at Smart Garden on World Radio Day today. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan along with RJ Mansi of MY FM, RJ Anadi of Big FM, RJ Payal of Red FM, RJ Akash of Radio Mirchi and Sushri Megha Tiwari of All India Radio planted Gulmohar and Cassia saplings. Shri Deependra Saxena of MY FM, Shri Aslam of Big FM and Shri Prateek Upadhyay of Red FM were also present on the occasion.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan congratulated the radio jockeys present on World Radio Day and had a detailed dialogue with them. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that even today radio is the most effective medium to reach out to the people. Even today people in rural areas depend on radio for information. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that there is a need to motivate masses to plant saplings through radio. Trees also give me the feeling of my nephews and nieces. Trees give life. They are the source of life not only for humans but also for animals, birds, insects and moths. We are doing plantation work to sustain human life, which is also a way to repay the generosity of the earth.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that we want to take the state towards solar energy to save the environment. Sun is the biggest source of energy. If we use solar energy properly then there will be no need to establish thermal power plants in future. We have to understand that coal is in limited quantity in the earth. Along with this, making electricity from coal spoils the environment, there is emission of carbon gases. That's why we have started a campaign to set up solar power plants in many places in collaboration with the private sector. Plants have been set up in Rewa and Neemuch. Plants are also being set up in Shajapur, Agar, Neemuch, Morena, Chhatarpur. Omkareshwar dam is suitable for solar energy production. Therefore, there is a plan to generate solar energy by laying solar panels on the surface of the water. This will avoid water vaporization and will also ensure the availability of solar electricity.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that apart from big solar plants, the state government is encouraging small investors and farmers to set up solar plants of up to two mega watt. The state government will buy as much electricity from investors and farmers as produced by them at the rate of 3 to 3 rupees 15 paise and put it in the grid. With this, our farmers will become donors of energy along with Annadata. The Chief Minister said that the State Government is also working in the direction of generating power from wind energy and biomass.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the state government-run energy literacy campaign has to be made a campaign of the people. Sometimes we spend electricity unnecessarily. Saving electricity is like making electricity. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that he himself remains active and alert to save electricity at the Chief Minister's residence.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that we are all aware of the dangers of global warming and climate change. The temperature of the earth's surface is increasing continuously. The consequences of the destruction of the environment are before all of us. If we have to save ourselves and the earth from this, then everyone will have to be alert and vigilant. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan appealed that all of us should plant trees on a large scale and also protect them. Plant more and more trees on the lands where plantation can be done. Also encourage the use of clean energy green energy. Do not waste energy unnecessarily, save as much electricity as possible. It is also necessary to be sensitive to the amount of minerals being extracted from the earth. We have to ensure judicious use of nature and not exploit it so that this earth remains livable for generations to come.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that youth should be aware about the environment. It is necessary to educate the youth about the importance of the environment, the usefulness of trees. Efforts should also be made that youth should plant saplings on special occasions. Youths should make sapling plantation a part of their nature.

Recollecting during the conversations, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that Philips Radio had come to his house in the village. The joy of having the radio at home was wonderful. Along with the news, the Binaca Geetmala was of particular interest at that time. I had a special love for Lata Ji's songs. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that Lata Ji's song – “Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon Zara Aankh Mein Bhar Lo Paani” is my favourite song. This song awakens the spirit of patriotism, gives inspiration to all of us and a sense of reverence arises for the soldiers who make sacrifices to protect the borders of the country.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan told all the radio jockeys present about the need to carry out special campaigns continuously through radio for tree plantation and energy conservation for environmental protection.
