Congress's frustration to call Central Vista as Modi Mahal: Anurag Thakur

Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Anurag Thakur has said that it was the frustration on part of the Congress party leaders to call Central Vista as Modi Mahal.

In a statement last evening, he said that while the Congress party was making comments on this project, it was keeping a creep silence on various projects that it had initiated in its ruled states of Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh at the time of the corona epidemic

While welcoming the decision to allow the continuation of the construction work of the Vista project and terming the petition against this project as malicious, Thakur said, “The stand of the Central Government led by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is clear regarding policies and schemes. We understand the balance between need-development-change very well. Central Vista is the need of the country in the current circumstances, but Congress is showing its frustrated and development-blocking mentality by calling it Modi Mahal”.

He said that ever since Rajiv Gandhi was the Prime Minister, the need for a new Parliament building was being felt as the old building was no longer fit for repair.

Thakur said that in 2012, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh had also stressed the need for a new Parliament through an article on this issue.

However, later on, Congress gave wrong information to the country on Central Vista and leveled false allegations by preparing false narratives, which the Delhi High Court has termed as malicious in its order and allowed the construction work of Central Vista to continue. This is a welcome move by the court, which is a scathing attack on the false agenda of the Congress, the minister added.

Anurag Thakur said, “At present work is going on only two projects of Central Vista, New Parliament House, and Central Vista Avenue. The cost of the new Parliament building is 862 crores and the cost of Central Vista Avenue is 477 crores, which in total cost about 1,300 crores, but the Congress party is trying to spread the sensation by exaggerating the figures. Central Vista has nothing to do with vaccinations far and wide. We have already made a separate provision of Rs 35,000 crores for the vaccination program.

Anurag Thakur said, “The Congress party and its leaders are well-versed in political hypocrisy. That is why they are adopting every trick to turn the corona epidemic into a political opportunity. Now their target is the Central Vista Project of the Central Government. Congress leaders are opposing this project by calling it 'criminal wastage' and 'waste of public money, while on the other hand, the silence of Rajasthan and Maharashtra government in the matter of spending crores of rupees on the project during the time of pandemic is a reflection of Congress's hypocrisy.

Anurag Thakur said, “On one hand Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Congress party are opposing the Central Vista project citing the Corona period and on other hand, under his patronage, the Congress government of Chhattisgarh was constructing Assembly building, Chief Minister's Palace, Mantri Mahal and Haj Mahal in the new capital region by spending thousands of crores.

He said, “The Congress party's stand on the Central Vista project is strange, as its leaders supported the proposal during the UPA government. Congress leaders had written letters about the need for a new Parliament building. Now its sole purpose is to take political advantage but that will not materialize, the minister emphatically said”
