“It is our job as makers to question the society” – Gul Khan
Writer, Director, Producer, Gul Khan is one of the prominent names of the television Industry. Her stories and characters are progressive, breaking stereotypes and connects vastly with the audience. Having written, directed, and produced big ticket shows, Gul Khan introduces her new show, ‘Ishk Par ZorNahi’ which aired on Sony Entertainment Television from March 15, Monday to Friday, 9.30 PM.
“Ishk Par ZorNahi is a beautiful love story weaving around the concept of ‘Opposite Attracts’. I have always been a believer of love in any form. Love is a necessity, and everyone needs it; be it in any form, shape or size. It is the route to happiness. I wanted to narrate this love in form of a story which has love, happiness with a ting of emotion and some funny take on situational drama”, says Gul Khan.
Ask Gul what is the one thing that is constant in her mind when it comes to creating stories for the audience and quick comes the reply, “We try to bring a change in the society through our shows and characters. It is our job as makers to question the society. Our shows are always larger than life, our sets depict grandeur at its best and our characters are fashionable andtrend-setters in all way. All these centers around our story, a story which is reforming, which has a message, which connects people and situations. We never shy away from bringing or introducing trends in our society”.
Gul has made a fortune for some of the stars who have worked with her, ask her about that and she laughs, “Well I do not know if we made them a fortune but I know that we have a good sense of choosing the right kind of people for our characters. I can visualize them in my mind as the characters we would want them to be. Some of them have become my close pals and are always there for me whenever I need them”.
Coming back to ‘Ishk Par ZorNahi’, Gul says that her characters Ayaan and Ishqi are both strong headsabout their thoughts on relationship and marriage. Both characters have contrasting take and it will be entertaining to watch these opposites get attracted.
Ask Gul who is born in Jabalpur, if she has any plans to make a show based there she says, “I would love to do that. I am very fond of Jabalpur as I am born here. I have some great memories of this lovely city. Madhya Pradesh is rich in its culture and heritage, while there are so many films off late that are MP based, I would surely love to do a show which is based in Jabalpur. I would also love to shoot a song for my show someday at the picturesque white marble rock formations at Bhedaghat on Narmada river”, she sums up.
