Japanese government on Thursday voiced it's strong protest against North Korea's act of launching two ballistic missiles towards the Sea of Japan.
Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga in a statement condemned the development
"This launch poses a threat to the regional peace and security of our country. It is a violation of UN Security Council resolutions. Japan strongly condemns it."
The missile launch was also confirmed by the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff. American media house CNN also quoted a US official confirming the test-firing of two missiles by the communist country.
The missiles reportedly landed outside Japan's territorial waters and exclusive economic zone and there have been no news of harm caused to aircraft or ships, the government said.
This is the first time in almost a year that North Korea has tested a ballistic missile, the last time the country tested a ballistic missile was in 29 March 2020.
