Angry over the dreadful incident in Muradnagar where over two dozen persons were killed and score others injured in cremation ground roof collapse, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that such incidents are the result of poor monitoring of the civil projects and issued fresh directives asking officials to monitor all construction projects.
'What was this task force doing in Ghaziabad where such incident happened,' CM asked even questioning the role of Divisional Commissioner of Meerut and DM of Ghaziabad in this regard on Monday.
"No such incident will be tolerated in the future and the guilty will be taken to task in the toughest possible manner which includes actions under National Security Act and seizure of property”, Chief Minister said.
The CM Yogi, visibly moved by the tragedy, has issued stringent directions afresh in order to ensure quality norms of the civil projects to save the loss of human lives as well as the public money.
He put further emphasis on the effective monitoring by the supervising officers, failing which they would invite strict action.
CM Yogi also stated that a Divisional Commissioner, Meerut and ADG, Meerut will conduct an inquiry and on the basis of this report the accountability of senior Divisional and District officials will be ascertained.
The CM said in a tweet: “I've instructed district officials to conduct relief operations & submit a report of the incident. Our government will provide all possible help needed for those affected by the incident.”
It may be recalled that three government officials including Executive Officer of Muradnagar nagar palika parishad Niharika Singh have been arrested in this regard while the contractor Ajay Tyagi is absconding.
Government has also paid an ex-gratia compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured has been provided.
Altogether 25 people were killed and 17 were injured in the incident happened on Sunday.
