India claw back after Australia's brisk start

It was Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur coming to India's rescue again on the fourth morning. Australia had got off to a quick start, scoring 40 runs in the first seven overs of the day when the duo first put the brakes on scoring before taking out the openers. The session bore a different look after that.

Harris gloved a short ball from Thakur delivered from over the wicket whereas Warner played back to a non-turning off-break and was trapped in front. Even a review, taken after Labuschagne convinced him to, couldn't save Warner.

India had an indifferent start to the day before that, with T Natarajan offering full balls ripe for cover drives. The stay for Australian openers wasn't without chances though, with edges flying past Rohit Sharma at second slip, but they either fell short or were difficult chances to say the least.

After the openers were done, Mohammed Siraj stepped up the gas with the wickets of Marnus Labuschagne and Matthew Wade in the same over. Labuschagne, scoring at a fair clip, edged a good delivery to Rohit at second slip and fell for 22-ball 25 before Wade glanced one down leg straight to the keeper.

Steve Smith though remained unbeaten and is scoring his runs quickly. He was proactive against Sundar's spin and punished mistakes from Navdeep Saini, who was bowling at around 130 kph owing to the injury, as Australia added 128 runs in the session. The forecast for the day has improved but the rest of the day could still be affected by rains.
