The new building is an intrinsic part of the vision of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and will be a landmark opportunity to build peoples' Parliament for the first time after independence, one which will match the needs and aspirations of 'New India' in the 75th anniversary of independence in 2022, the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement here on Tuesday.

The New Parliament Building will be modern, state-of-the-art and energy efficient, with highly non-obtrusive security facilities to be built as a triangular-shaped building, adjacent to the present Parliament.

Lok Sabha will be three times of the existing size and the Rajya Sabha will be substantially bigger.

'The interiors of the new building will showcase a rich blend of Indian culture and diversity of our regional arts, crafts, textiles and architecture. The design plan includes space for a magnificent Central Constitutional Gallery, which will be accessible to the public,' it added.

The construction of New Parliament Building will utilise the resource-efficient green technology, promote environment-friendly practices, generate employment opportunities and contribute towards economic revitalisation.

It will have high quality acoustics and audio-visual facilities, improved and comfortable seating arrangements, effective and inclusive emergency evacuation provisions.

The building will comply with the highest structural safety standards, including adherence to Seismic Zone 5 requirements and is designed for ease of maintenance and operations.

The function will be attended by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Prahlad Joshi, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh.

Around 200 dignitaries, including Union Cabinet Ministers, Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, Secretaries, Ambassadors and High Commissioners, will attend the function, which will also be webcast live.

Project and Design: This project has been prepared by Tata Project Limited for the new Parliament House. HCP Design, Planning and Management Private Limited has designed the new building.

 

Timing: On December 10, PM Modi will perform the Bhoomi Pujan of the new Parliament House. After this, work on it will start soon. The goal is to complete this project before August in 2022.

 

Space: The new Parliament building is being constructed in a total area of ​​64,500 square meters. This building will be 4 storeys.

 

Expenditure: It will cost a total of Rs 971 crore to build the new Parliament House.

 

entrance: There will be 6 routes to go to the new parliament house. An entrance will be for the PM and the President. There will be 1 Speaker and 2 Public Entrance for the entry of MPs, Speaker of a Lok Sabha, Chairperson of a Rajya Sabha.

 

120 Office: There will be a total of 120 offices in it. In which there will be committee room, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs Office, Lok Sabha Secretariat, Rajya Sabha Secretariat, PM Office etc. It will not have a central hall.

 

Lok Sabha Chamber: It will be built in an area of ​​3015 square meters. It will have 888 seats instead of 543 seats. During the joint ceremony, 1224 MPs will be able to sit together in the Lok Sabha Chamber.

 

Rajya Sabha: It will be built in a total area of ​​3,220 square meters. It will have 384 seats instead of 245.

 

Paperless office: Paperless work will be done in the offices of the new building. It will also have a library, lounge, dining area for MPs. Parking will also be modern in this.

 

Costution Hall: The new building will have a large Costution Hall, which will have a glimpse of India’s democratic heritage. This new building is under the Central Vista project and will be built near the present Parliament House.

 

Translation System: The building will have a smart display on the furniture. There will be a biometric system for ease of voting. In the new Parliament House, the translation system will be a special attraction, so that every MP can understand the speech of every language.

 

Over 200 Artists: 2000 people will be directly involved in the construction of the new building and there will be indirect participation of 9000 people. Apart from this, more than 200 artists from different parts of the country will also participate in the construction of the building.
