Bhopal, Dec 9 Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday received the Best State Promoting Sports Award from the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, it was officially learnt.
The honour was presented online to the state’s Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia.
Madhya Pradesh has bagged several awards in the past for outstanding work being done in the field of sports by the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare. The National Sailing School Bhopal has been awarded the Admiral Kohli Award in the years 2012, 2015 and 2018 by Yachting Association of India for promoting sailing games in Madhya Pradesh. In 2017, the National Sailing School was awarded the Best Club of the Year award. Sailing player Harshita Tomar has received Yachts Person of the Year award in 2015, 2017 and 2018, Most Promising Player of the Year to Ram Milan Yadav in 2017 and Govind Bairagi in 2018, and for Best Woman Sailor to Uma Chouhan.
Similarly, in the year 2014-15, Women’s Hockey Academy Gwalior was awarded the President’s Award by Hockey India and Hockey Olympian Preeti Dubey was awarded the Best Upcoming Player Award. Men’s Hockey Academy Player Vivek Sagar was awarded the Rising Star Award by the International Hockey Federation in the year 2019.
