India is following 'Ekla Cholo Re' till now: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recalled Tagore today virtually in the centennial celebrations of Visva-Bharati University and asked the university students to help local craftsmen to sell their handicraft items online to the global market.

Mr Modi is also the Chancellor of the prestigious university, which completed 100 years today.

During his address, Mr Modi stated, “For the current year the Poush Mela couldn't be held because of Covid 19 pandemic. This is the third time in its set of experiences that Poush Mela couldn't be held.

As the country is offering significance to the utilization of local items, I would ask students to guide local craftsmen to promote their painstaking work online. This will guarantee our local products arrive at the global market."

He also said that Visva-Bharati had contributed to the development of the nation and it had invigorated the nation during our freedom fighting movement. It assumed a major part in building new India.

Discussing Tagore's association with Gujarat, Mr Modi said, "He was a frequent visitor to Gujarat. He had set up a culture of one country initially."

"Visva-Bharati is the epitome of vocal for local. As Tagore said 'Jodi Tor Daak Shune Keu Naa Aase, Tawbe Ekla Chalo Re', India now is such a nation who can run independently. We are not dependent on others", concluded Mr Modi.
