With Diwali round the corner, the pollution levels and COVID situation in the National Capital seem to be on an alarming rise.
As per the Central Pollution Control Board, the average Air Quality Index measured in the National Capital was 473 at around 1100 hrs on Monday morning, while on Sunday the capital clocked record number of single day spike in COVID cases with 7,745 fresh infections.
Delhi Chief Minister and Health Minister have acknowledged the fact that the city is reeling under the third wave of the COVID 19.
The skies were covered with a thick layer of smog this morning making it difficult for the people to breathe easy.
The minimum temperature was 10.4 degrees C this morning with shallow fog that further spiked the AQI by making the air dense, thus preventing dispersion of particulate matter, as high relative humidity levels pegging at 95 per cent this morning also added to the equation.
The morning walkers turn-out seemed to be very less and those who were out complained of difficulty in breathing saying that the air felt very heavy.
Amid this problematic situation, several people were seen displaying careless attitude as they chose to roam around without wearing masks.
Meanwhile, the AQI at one of the busiest traffic crossings of Delhi , that is the ITO , it was '472 ' falling under the 'severe' category this morning , 484 at Anand Vihar , 470 at Mundka , 468 in Wazirpur and 465 at Okhla.
The situation was no different in the NCR area with the bad air affecting the people in these places.
