GOOGLE’S NEXT BIG CAMPUS IS EXPECTED TO HAVE 30 BUILDINGS AND 4,000 RESIDENTIAL UNITS | San Jose
Big tech companies — like Google, Apple, Facebook — are known to have sprawling office campuses in Silicon Valley that have always been quite the talking point. Google recently revealed its plans to build a campus in San Jose and the tech company gave a glimpse into its next big campus. Here are 10 things to know about it:
-Google’s campus project in San Jose is called Downtown West and will be a ‘mixed-use’ campus
-The campus will be home to not just Google’s offices but will also have office and public spaces for other organisations
-The campus is expected to be set over an area of 80 acres and will not be like a “traditional corporate campus”, as per Google
-Google’s next big campus is expected to have 30 buildings and 4,000 residential units
-The campus is also expected to have at least 10 parks
-Retail space, a hotel, performance areas for events and live screenings will also be a part of the campus
-Google plans to run all of the campus’ buildings on solar or electric energy
-The company also said that it plans to make 65% of the campus accessible through bicycles, public transit or on foot to attempt less number of cars
-The campus will be made in coordination with the city of San Jose
-The campus plans will go for approval later this year and is likely to take more than a few years to complete.
